JUGS #170

I did it! I made a card! It's been so long since I have consistently crafted, but my goal this year is to get back at it. I want to enter challenges again and hopefully pop back on to a fun design team. I miss being a part of a great team that brings inspiration to other crafters.
I love sketches and this one from JUGS got my gears going right away.

Here's what I did with it:

Goodness! Not only are my crafting skills rusty, but my photography skills are, too. Check out the other challenge entries for some inspiration.

Happy Mother's Day!

I did it! I made a card!! It's been at least a year since I've created a card. Oh, how I've missed it, but it will be awhile before I can make another one. We move to IL in 2 weeks. All my paper crafting goodies will be packed up this week. I am determined to get back to card making once we're settled in our new home.
As I was packing for my last crop with the fabulous The Rock, Paper, Scissors girls, I threw in some Mother's Day stamps thinking I just might make a card for my mom and MIL after I got some scrapbook pages done. My sweet friend Ada of Hamawilo shared this gorgeous flower paper from SEI with me and I instantly wanted it to be the focal point of my cards. Add a great stamp from Ali Edwards' Mama = love set for Technique Tuesday and a cute paper flower from Recollections, and voila:
Super quick, but classy card.
So Happy Mother's Day to all of you and to my priceless Mama and wonderful MIL.
Thanks for taking a peek.

You'll Be Jealous

It was just one month ago when someone told me about "the lady with a scrapbook store in her basement." She was raving about the great deals she got while shopping there. I was skeptical, thinking it was probably old scrapbooking product or some kind of off brand stuff, but intrigued, I made a date to shop there with a friend one morning. Plus, this scrapbook basement store was only 15 minutes from my house.

Thank goodness I didn't let my doubts keep me away. Goldenshill Papercrafts is my dream come true. Her basement is packed as tightly as possible with many of the latest lines from the premier brands. I was thrilled to hear that Ronnie (the owner) attends CHA every winter to order the newest product!!! I don't know how she stays in business with such low prices: Copics $5 a piece, but the price goes down $0.50 a marker for each group of 5 that you buy... so if you bought 20 markers, they'd be $3 a piece!!!; EVERY sheet of paper is $0.50 whether it is brand new, embossed, glittered, flocked....doesn't matter!!; she automatically gives you 40% off your highest priced item as if you had a Michaels or Joann coupon and you also get 10% off your entire order if you bring your own bag to put your purchases in.

I just had to take pictures of my haul from the last two times I shopped there and share them with you all because the hubs just doesn't get it. I knew you gals would!

20 sheets of paper (yes, that's brand new Imaginesce, Pebbles and Crate paper and some new to me Authentique) and 5 copics for less than $18!!
6 sheets of brand new My Mind's Eye and Queen & Co., an 8x8 pad of new Cosmo Cricket, 2 packs of new MME embellishments and 3 MS border punches for less than $20!!! The punches were 75% off!! Crazy!!

If you live ANYWHERE near Fairfax Station, VA, I suggest you stop by Goldenshill Papercrafts. She's only open on Wednesdays and the last Saturday of each month.

Scrapbooking Groupon

I know.... it's been forever, but my hands are full with these two cuties:

I WILL return to papercrafting once I get the hang of being a mommy to two. If I can just get my 2-month-old little man on a stable schedule.... we ARE getting there.

Anyway, just wanted to pop in and share this Groupon with you:
http://www.groupon.com/deals/websters-pages?utm_campaign=UserReferral&utm_medium=email&utm_source=uu4147757
It's for Webster's Pages merchandise. I think this is an awesome idea and hope other manufacturers start to do Groupons, too.

Get Sketchy #79

Here's this week's Get Sketchy sketch:

Love it, right? My fave part is how the center rectangle bleeds off to one side. I'll be using this sketch again.

I made this card for a friend of mine who recently received devastating news regarding her mother's health. She has told me a couple of times that she thinks encouraging others is my spiritual gift, so I certainly hope this encourages her.

The Get Sketchy sponsor this week is Pink Persimmon!!! And we spoiled GT Girls received a few adorable stamps to play with. They stamp like a dream!!! And made in the USA, so you can't beat that. Play along with sketch #79 and you could win some fabulous Pink Persimmon stamps, too.
